Support Groups

One of the biggest problems I have noticed where I live is the lack of support groups for Parkinson’s Disease. I am beginning to believe that none exist in Chautauqua County, NY. I really find that hard to believe, but so far I have not been able to find any. Therefore, I am attempting to organize one of my own.

I would like to establish a group that supports family members as well as the person that has the disease. The group should have an overall goal of increasing public awareness about Parkinson’s Disease.

  1. There are support groups fairly close to me, but I haven’t felt the need to join one, and I can’t imagine my DH wanting to go to one, either. I guess everybody is different, but seeking out PWP on the Internet has been my way of putting together my own support group.

Good luck in your efforts, as I am sure there are plenty of Parkies close to you who would appreciate your group.

  2. My reasons for wanting to start a group of my own are two fold: first, I am the stubborn type. O refuse to feel sorry for myself, and I refuse to go down without a fight. Second, my wife could use someone to talk with.

    Thanks for the support.
